As, Not For Exhibition in Cincinnati

As, Not For: Dethroning Our Absolutes is a touring design history exhibition that features work created by twentieth-century Black graphic designers. It acts as a living bibliography and addendum to design history through the exhibit, workshops, lectures, and collaborative efforts with artists, students, and educators.

Lectures

Jerome Harris talks patrons through the process of developing the exhibition, it’s impetus, inspiration, and importance.

Panel discussion at City Tech in Brooklyn, NY.

Workshops

The As, Not For zine-making workshops provide participants with photocopies of work by exhibited designers, allowing them to make zine spreads with simple tools. Each participant walks away with a zine that includes collages created by all participants.

Zine-making workshop, organized in collaboration with Amelia Duno and Joshua Gamma, at The Menial Collection in Baltimore, MD.

Exhibition

Each iteration of As, Not For is unique. Organizers are given the agency to reimagine the exhibition design and marketing materials to more directly address  the interests of their communities.
